Coat care

After trying many different shampoos and conditioners to fit D’Artagnan’s type of coat ( very dry, medium length, with volume), I found a deeply moisturizing product.

Iv San Bernard black passion is the choice. It fits all coat types. After the first use his coat was shining and deeply moisturized .

STEP 1 : quickly wet the coat, and apply black passion mask. Add 9 drops of argan oil to the mask first, mix then add warm water (1:3)). Cover the coat with a towel and leave it on for 10 minutes.

Rinse the mask until the water runs clear.

STEP 2 :  mix the black passion shampoo with water (1:3) and wash the coat without going against the direction of hair growth.this is very important so you don’t end up with tangled hair.

Rinse once again until the water runs clear.

STEP 3 : mix 9 drops of argan oil, the black passion mask and the pek conditionner ( mask and conditioner mix 1:3 with warm water)

I apply the mixture to the coat and leave it on for 5 minutes

Rinse until the water runs clear.

Wrap the dog in a big towel and pat him, do not rub the coat otherwise you will get tangles.

Dry the dog, with a warm ( not hot ) dryer, brushing in the way the hair grows, do not go against direction of hair growth .( I use the B-Air Dryers Bear Power 2 High Velocity Dryer )

Stomach issues

D’Artagnan pooped and vomited 5 times today, first time at 5am . Vomit was very light pink .

It went on and off all day , diarhea and foamy vomit.

His poop was darker than usual at the end.

We went to see the vet, poo is within the normal color range; stomach is soft and not tensed.

Got a shot for nausea and purina veterinary diets EN Gastroenteric canine formula canned food to regulate stomach.

At the end he didn’t need to eat this special food. I could stop feeding him for 24h and then feed half of his regular size meal, crushed to make it easier to disgest.
Overall his stomach is weak and this isn’t the first time it happens

coat not growing

When I received Aramis , his coat was shiny, fluffy and long for a puppy. When I started to care his coat, it went downhill. The coat became short, dull and stopped growing. I tried many different shampoos and products but nothing worked so far.On the opposite side D’Artagnan’s coat doesnt need much care to grow, it grows by itself, and is fluffy. I underestimated how a dog’s coat can be so different from one animal to the other.

I decided to ask a skin professional . She recommended Mineral H Shampoo and Banana Conditioner with Argan Oil and Vitamina H lotion added into the conditioner.
I was told to do these treatments weekly.

Step 1

Mix mineral shampoo 1:3 with warm water. Wet the coat and shampoo the dog.

rinse until water runs clear

Step 2

mix banana conditioner with 9 drops of argan oil and 9 drops of vitamina H lotion. Add warm water ( 1:3 )

massage the dog with the mixture and leave it for 5 minutes.

Rinse until water runs clear.

Step 3

Pad the dog with a towel and dry the coat with a dog dryer. Keep brushing while drying in the direction of hair growth. ( I use the B-Air Dryers Bear Power 2 High Velocity Dryer )

Week one

coatw1
I am pleased with the result even though this was the first bathing with this special treatment.
The coat is very well moisturized, very sleek, and not static.

He had some dead skin, after this first treatment the skin was moisturized deeply and this dead skin detached. I simply removed it with a gentle regular brushing.

Week 2

coat2

After the second bath, the coat is still deeply moisturized. Volume is starting to grow, although not very visible, it is slowly  growing . I am pleased with the results and can’t wait to see the growth after a couple of months.
