I use to cut their nails with a regular nail clipper until one day I cut too short. I cut the quick and it bled. To stop the bleeding I use a cloth to press on it, then mix flour or corn starch with water and dip the bleeding nail in it. This serves as a band. I was so afraid to cut the quick again, my dogs would feel it when I was trying to cut their nails and it became impossible.
I purchased the Dremel 7300. This is so much better! I showed it to my dogs, made them sniff it and get used to it. It took a little time but with treats and patience it paid off!
It has 2 speeds which is great, the trimming is smooth. The only down part for me is because of their long coat sometimes if they happen to move hair get trapped in. The machine stops so I gently remove the hair from it.
